A 5th Day
We have seen how, so far, each of the Days of Genesis 1:3–2:3 can be illustrated using the addition of a single point to the previous drawing. The same holds true for a 5th day.  The pyramid of a 4th day with a point added becomes a pyramid over an inverted pyramid. Fittingly, the image shown for a 5th day reflects God’s command that the living creatures “be fruitful and multiply”.
It is interesting that just as on a 3rd Day, God commanded each of the life forms He had created after its kind to be fruitful and multiply.  The life that multiplied “after its kind” is a very important distinction, one we need to remember when we attempt to understand the differences between the creation accounts of Genesis 1 and Genesis 2.
Like the man formed of the dust of the earth, the beasts of the field and birds of the sky were formed “out of the ground” while the creatures of the SIxth Day, Genesis 1, were made “after their kind”.  The beasts of the field and birds of the sky of Genesis 2:19, in details of the beginning, were not spoken of as “after their kind”.  All of the birds, beasts and creeping things on the Ark of Noah were “after their kind”, male and female, Genesis 6:19-20.
We must focus upon these distinctions if we are ever to reconcile the age of the earth, the vast array of life forms, the age of modern man and the words of the Bible.  By really careful examination anyone can see there is no conflict.  The life formed “of the earth” and into which God breathed the breath of life, were not restricted to multiplying after their kind as were the beasts and man of Genesis 1 - the 6th Day.
It is also important to recall the specifics about what life would die from the flood - all life in which was the breath of life. (Genesis 6:17)   These are not the same men or animals of the days of Genesis 1, but those formed of the dust / taken from the earth as told in Genesis 2.
Could this be the answer to those who insist that some form of evolution is the story of all life?  What if the “beginning” Genesis 1:1 and the details in Genesis 2 allow for the vast array of species (not yet after their own kind) which we do recognize through science as part of the life forms of earth’s distant past. My book’s chapter 5, Getting Events in Order, goes further into the difference between man formed of the dust and man created in the image of God.
